PLEASURE: 7 Things You Don’t Know

Pleasure Website CoverFinally, it’s done. The book that took six long months to write. PLEASURE has finally been published. This is the fourth book in my HEIRS series. To be honest when I planned it out, I expected it to be a fun, easy book. If you’ve read the other three books in the series, then you know that Logan is the fun guy in the group, the party animal. I was going to keep him that way, then Scottie walked in with her baggage. Things got serious real fast.

Despite how long it took to write it, I actually enjoyed the process especially because I was posting on Wattpad and getting your feedback as I went. If you haven’t read it, you should Grab Your Copy. Do that before you read the rest of this post because there will be major spoilers.

Okay, let’s get to it.

1: WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO WRITE

You noticed, right? I started this book way, way back in January immediately after the holidays and only just finished it. No, there were no other projects in between, just life stuff. I’m telling you guys, this COVID-19 ish will play games with your mind. Add in a few relationship problems and you can say goodbye to your productivity. I’m actually shocked that the book is over given all the nonsense that was being thrown my way. Speaking of which; I hope you’re well wherever you are. Don’t forget to wear your mask and socially distance.

2: THIS IS ACTUALLY A REMAKE OF A PREVIOUS BOOK

If you’ve been with me for a while, I think you’ll remember my Trey Songz phase. That was back in 2013 when I was still an innocent college kid with crushes. I didn’t do much fan-fiction back then, but when I did it was his. There’s a short book I wrote back then called ‘Hurting Kind of Love’ that featured a girl who’d been raped then ditched by her boyfriend. This book was a remake of that story and I quite prefer it because the way I dealt with the assault back then was kind of childish. If you read the book, then you know what I mean.

3: I WAS GOING TO KEEP JACK ALIVE BUT MY INNER DEMON KILLED HIM

Jack! Jack! Jack. You met Vinny, the first deviant who scarred Scottie. Jack was just mentioned in passing as having died in a car crash. I was going to keep him alive and make him repent, but the thought of him and Scottie existing in the same space just annoyed the hell out of me. So I killed him. #SorryNotSorry.

4: LOGAN, LEX & THEIR MOTHER HAVE A COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP

If you read Lex’s book along with Logan’s book then you already know why Logan was shocked that Bree, his mother, was calling Lex. However, it bears repeating for the late crowd. Bree was unfaithful in her first marriage. Lex was the product of that infidelity and the cause of her divorce from her first husband. Because she was going through ‘stuff’, Bree ditched Lex with his father’s family. Lex’s father was married at the time (and thus had also been unfaithful) so you can imagine the kind of welcome Lex received. He was hated and treated like an outsider in the Bishop family.

Logan Avery  Bree Clementine  Lex Bishop

While ‘healing’ herself, Bree met Logan’s dad, Nick, and Logan was conceived. Given that she dumped him then promptly created a new family, one would understand why Lex can’t stand her. And of course it would be understandable if he hated Logan too. The reason he doesn’t is because Logan practically stalked him into liking him. Lex still hates Bree though.

5: LOGAN HAS ANOTHER SIBLING

Remember the marriage that Bree ruined, there was a child of that marriage too. Her name is Leona. The reason she was never mentioned is because she and her brothers have absolutely no relationship. She’s not as forgiving as Lex. So as you can see though Logan’s family seems perfect, it really isn’t. Families are complicated, man.

6: WHERE IS SCOTTIE’S FATHER?

Still nursing his pride! I don’t think any parent would love being estranged from their children. His pride and insistence that he’s right is what is keeping him apart from them. Will he try to reconcile with them now that Esther has made headway? Probably. But he’s the type who would try to pretend like the past never happened. An apology would never slip from his lips. If you were Scottie or Prince, would you let him back in your life?

7: ‘I BELONG TO YOU’ BY JACOB LEE WROTE THIS BOOK

I have no idea how I found this song but I did, and once I did I couldn’t unheard it. It’s a catchy tune, perfect for a wedding day or a roman. Listen to it sometime. You’ll like it.

HOW MANY CHANCES DOES TRUE LOVE DESERVE?

Years ago, Scottie and Logan loved each other. Then she broke his heart and disappeared. Now she’s back. She’s still as beautiful as ever. Still makes his heart race when she smiles. He wants to keep hating her… but that’s kind of hard when he still lusts over her.

Pleasure is now available for your reading pleasure.

Scottie Harper was Logan Avery’s first love. He was so crazy about her that he handed her his heart on a platter. She promised she’d keep it safe, instead she mercilessly broke it. Then she left.

Years later, she’s back, and she’s nothing like Logan remembered. Now there are shadows in her eyes and she has ‘Do Not Touch’ signs all over her luscious curves. And that’s a problem… because he still wants to touch.

However, regardless of the sparks that still fly whenever they’re in the same room, he’s not sure he should look back. Their past still haunts him. He’s torn between the love he still has and the agony she caused him. Is he strong enough to let himself fall again?

Bad Cop: 5 Things You Didn’t Know

BC Website CoverAh! Bad Cop. The one that almost got away. Thankfully, I managed to get our relationship back on track and we finally have a happy ending *cue applause. I bet you’re just as glad as I am that the book is finished though for different reasons. In your head you’re saying, “Thank God. Now we don’t have to listen to her whining about this damn book all the time.” Lol. ‘Tis okay. As long as you’re happy.

Lucas and Brandy were high school sweethearts who reconnect thirteen years later. Lucas is now a cop and Jasmine is a very, very successful financial manager. Given their explosive break up, it’s no surprise that their reuniting isn’t a happy occasion. Worse, the whole thing is shadowed by the death of Jasmine’s assistant. It took a while to get these two to deal with their past as well as solve the murder, but as always Dr. Phil a.k.a. Linda managed it. This be what I do.

You’ve read the book, right? If you haven’t, I don’t even know what to do with you. Go and READ IT. If you’ve read it, then here are a few more facts that might make you smile – or frown.

1: THIS BOOK HAS BEEN REINCARNATED THREE TIMES – I THINK

I don’t even know where to start. Jasmine was originally called Brandy. When the book first appeared, she was a naïve wannabe actress who’d somehow gotten a job as a stripper. Yes, a stripper. In that first reincarnation, she struck up a friendship with a suspicious guy called Rafi, lost her roommate to a serial killer and had a frenemy called Kia who had slept with Lucas in the past. In the second reincarnation, she had a little more backbone, was still friends with Kia but had less of a relationship with Rafi (who now turned out to be the killer). In this reincarnation, all of that is gone. Shoot! I still miss Kia. Should have brought that lady back –lol. She had no shame and didn’t give a flying pig about what people thought of her THOT ways. But she’s gone now. The only constant was that the book was still called Bad Cop. This time when I started the rewrite, I decided to start with a completely clean slate. There are still a few scenes that were pasted from the originals, but there are so few and so heavily edited that I bet those who read all those other reincarnations won’t even recognize them.

2: LUC’S FATHER WAS SUPPOSED TO PLAY A GREATER PART

Originally, I’d intended to give Jasmine an older brother – a dead older brother. If that older brother had actually existed, then Luc’s father would have played a part in his death. As in while Luc’s father was robbing the store that sent him to jail, Jasmine’s brother gets killed in the course of that robbery. Of course that would’ve complicated Jasmine and Luc’s relationship. How do you start a relationship with the man whose father killed your brother? I ditched the whole storyline because it would have taken more than ten chapters to resolve the mess and I was already closing in on one hundred thousand words. But think about it! How would it have worked? Would her mom have even agreed so easily to let Lucas back into their life?

3: MICHAEL WALCOTT COULD HAVE DONE MUCH WORSE TO JASMINE

michael walcottAs you already know, the Michael Walcott is trash. But I was going to make him even trashier. Jasmine is a personal finance manager with a thriving YouTube channel. Teddy offered to get her a radio gig. I was going to give her that and a column with a Buzzfeed like online paper. Michael, with all his money, would then have ruined the whole thing by threatening to withdraw advertisement from the station and paper unless she was fired. His way of making her back off from the investigation. I was even thinking of getting him to pay people to mess with her channel (maybe leave bad comments or spread rumors). I know, I know. I’m as wicked as the Walcotts :D. But just imagine how awful her life would’ve been.

4: IT TOOK ME ONLY A MONTH TO WRITE IT

That’s right. When I started this newest reincarnation, it only took me one month to write 96,000 words. Meanwhile I’d been trying to write it for four years. Starting, stopping….. I think I figured out what the problem was. Because the book was a so mystery heavy, I was scared that people wouldn’t like it. My most well received books have been those that feel more erotic romance and just focus on the characters. But when I started Bad Cop this time, I just told myself that it didn’t matter whether others liked it or not. What mattered was whether I liked it. I told myself not to care about how it would be received or whether people would even buy it and just right. I think that’s what got me to let go of all my fears and just write. Finishing this book taught me that sometimes it’s hard to write just because you’re so conscious of the readers or what income a book will bring. Once you stop thinking of these things and let things be, it becomes much easier to write the story that you want.

5: IS THIS LOVE BY BRIAN NHIRA WROTE THIS BOOK

I know, right? The lyrics have absolutely zero to do with this book and yet for some reason, every morning when I sat at my desk to write it was the only book song that could get the juices flowing. The beginning especially got me (Let’s not even talk about his voice).

Quit playing with my heart

How dare you try to start what you don’t intend to finish

Is this a gimmick you’ve had planned right from the start

Something about those lyrics just connects with me. Maybe it’s because lately I’ve been talking to some guy who is into mind games. One day he is into you, calling like one hundred times per hour, and the next day he just goes MIA. He reappears a week later claiming to have missed you, declaring his love every second. Then disappears again. Right now, I wouldn’t even be surprised to find out that he has a wife and family somewhere out there which is why he keeps disappearing. Anyway, enough about me….. lol…. How you been? Have you read Lucas and Jasmine’s book ? You interested now?

Have You Read Daddy’s Home?

DH Website CoversSometimes, I just love to go back in time. Daddy’s Home wasn’t the first book I wrote, but it was my first dip into the publishing sea. May 2014… Ah! Good times.

It was one of those spur of the moment books. I was just thinking about second chance romance and whether I would really forgive a man who cheated on me if he was genuinely sorry. And thus was born Daddy’s Home.

Zain is an ex-doctor while Lucky is a football player who plays for the New York Firebacks. Lucky gets up to some dirty shenanigans while the team is out of town and ends up impregnating a stripper. Yeah, I know… *wince!

Now Zain has to deal with this lady (which is a very nice term for what she really is). Even worse, she also has to deal with Lucky’s mother who doesn’t like her and makes no bones about it.

One word…. DRAMA!!!!

How To Tempt A Crook: 6 Things You Didn’t Know.

HTTAC Website CoverYay! I’m finally writing about my crooks. Crooked In Love is a series that has been simmering in my mind for quite a long time (might even be years). It took me a while to get to it mostly because I get distracted easily. But I’ve finally decided to get my butt in gear and finish this series so it can stop making a fuss in the back of mind.

Writing How To Tempt A Crook was… grueling. Mostly because of Kelly. It was easy to understand her grudge against Spencer, but it was also frustrating because she and Spencer seem so perfect for each other. Fortunately, they got their happy ending.

Now, to the reason you really came here. What don’t you know about the book? Read on…

  1. SPENCER TURNED OUT TO BE MORE REDEEMABLE THAN I INITIALLY PLANNED

SpencerSpencer was meant to be a jackass, a real jackass. Yeah, sure he was going to get her out of prison, but I planned to make him unapologetic, since technically, he wasn’t completely to blame. Unfortunately, rogue characters tend to ruin the best laid plans. He threw me for a curveball with his appearance in the prologue, asking for forgiveness. From there on there was nothing I could do except let him be a nice guy like he wanted.

  1. KELLY COULD HAVE REALLY BEEN THE MURDERER

When I was planning out the story, I’d planned for Kelly to be the murderer. But I thought it over – she’s a convict, father dead, career down the toilet… Adding in ‘murderer’, just seemed a little macabre. Also, she was already dealing with the trauma from having lost her father while trying to free her. If she had a murder to deal with too, it might have been too much for one person to deal with.

  1. THERE WAS A PREQUEL ALL READY

I had planned to write a prequel to the book. If you’ve read How To Tempt A Crook then you know that Spencer and Kelly’s backstory is pretty heavy and could make a book all on its own. I was thinking of doing a before-the-romance love story just to show how antagonistic their love story. Why did I ditch the prequel? It was very mystery heavy, and light on the romance (if any). However, I might still end up doing it anyway, just because I like Spencer and Kelly so much.

  1. LAWRENCE WAS GOING TO DIE

Yes, I know. That would’ve made me the worst person out there, but I can’t lie. I was going to kill dear Lawrence just so Kelly would be forced to acknowledge her feelings for Spencer. Fortunately, she came to her senses before then and begged me to let Lawrence live. And that’s why Lawrence is alive.

  1. KELLY’S NOT MY FAVORITE CHARACTER

A.J.No, no, no. Don’t get me wrong. I like her very much but she’s not my favorite of the Crooked girls. That honor goes to A.J. (The girl on the side).

I know it’s wrong to have favorites among your children but A.J gives me life. Once you read her book you’ll understand why.

If you want to know when the book drops and still haven’t joined my Book Club, then you’re missing out. Join, Join, JOIN! Seriously!

  1. SPANISH SONGS WROTE THIS BOOK

I don’t speak Spanish. Heck, the only words I understand from the language are the ones that sound a little English or French. But for some reason, I couldn’t stop listening to Spanish songs as I wrote this book. My favorite has to be Solo Por Amor by Samo.

I’m awful at Spanish so the only thing I know about this song is that it talks about forbidden/taboo love. Still, it got me through this book cause Samo has a voice like honey and the beats of this song always hit the right place. Don’t you agree?
